Practicing Lockdown Procedures

Dear Roberts Parents and Families,

State law requires schools to conduct two lockdown drills per year. To remain compliant to safety concerns and accessing our safety systems, we will be holding a virtual lockdown drill this week. This virtual drill will not be a simulation of a threat and is not intended to scare students. We do want students to take the drill information seriously, so they are familiar with lockdown routines and procedures in the event we need to use one in the future.

Alternative Education Programs will conduct a ‘virtual’ lockdown drill the week of October 5th-9th.   We will virtually practice a Conditions 1 and 2 lockdowns with students and staff. If this was a real emergency in building, we know that law enforcement would escort our students and staff to a location that was deemed safe and secure where students then would be either transported to a different location to be picked up by parents or be picked up directly at the appropriate pre-planned location. If this occurs during CDL, this information would be directly communicated with parents.

If you have safety concerns, or notice any gaps in our security plan, please contact our building administrators. As parents, you have a valuable perspective that can help improve safety procedures. As gaps are identified, we will continuously refine and improve our lockdown procedures.
