These Roberts High School students got an early Christmas present from Intel and the Portland Trail Blazers, a chance to display their engineering talent from center court of the Rose Garden Arena in front of more than 20,000 screaming fans during half time of a Trail Blazer's game.
Intel Oregon Corporate Affairs has stated that Intel wants more students to study math, science and engineering. The engineering challenge was one way to show students that engineering can be both fascinating and fun.

Intel volunteers are part of a massive school volunteerism effort by Intel Oregon employees. During the 2007-2008 school year, Intel Oregon employees invested over 60,000 hours of volunteer time in Oregon schools.

At Intel's invitation, students from Roberts High School and 8 other Oregon high schools worked hard for the past two months to design, engineer and build unique t-shirt launchers. Each Challenge team competing submitted a two-page paper encompassing 4 areas: process, theories, successes, and how they implemented teamwork. They were also asked to submit at least 3 photos, and an optional YouTube video.

Roberts' students won 1st Prize for the "Furthest T-Shirt Shot" at the event, launching at least one t-shirt 558 ft. (almost the length of two football fields) into the spectator seats. The reaction of the crowd was electric, the noise deafening.

Thank you Intel, and congratulations students on this engineering feat!

Speedster News

Students work on building a Model T SpeedsterRoberts High School students are attending skills training workshops in preparation for the Model T-Speedster Program. Mentors from Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum work with students to rebuild a fully functional 1920’s Model T-Speedster car.

Each student learns skills in auto body design and construction, woodworking, welding, and engine theory. In the first workshop, students built and painted six “Chassis Suspension Devices” (sawhorses) to support the cars during the initial rebuilding stages. more...

Science Field Experience @ Packsaddle Park

In September 2008, Roberts High School students journeyed to Packsaddle Park for a field learning experience on the banks of the Santiam River. Sponsored by Salmon Watch, the purpose of this trip was to show students how real world science is used outdoors.

Students observed live salmon in the Santiam River and investigated four environmental science topics: Macroinvertebrates - collecting and identifying bugs in the water; Water Quality - testing and monitoring the water quality of the river; Salmon Life Cycle - discussing environmental impacts upon the salmon in today’s rivers; and Riparian Zones – examining river ecosystems.  more...

Who We Are

We are a fully accredited high school serving students on referral or on expulsion. Students on referral choose Roberts High School for a variety of reasons, including a smaller learning environment, online access to classes, credit recovery, and GED.

Roberts High School is an excellent destination for students who are underperforming in the larger high schools, in danger of dropping out, and/or want to be closely connected to their education.

Roberts High School offers the same accredited core curriculum available in each of the Salem high schools, and provides opportunities to learn additional electives such as videography, digital photography, internships and appropriate social behavior.

With a smaller environment, students are able to build relationships with staff, concentrate on choices and behaviors, and become important stakeholders in Roberts High School.

Roberts High School has the largest number of graduates in the Salem-Keizer School District. Your student has the opportunity to be a member of the next class, and whatever it takes, the staff at Roberts will assist students in achieving that goal. It is up to the student to make choices that will best meet goals.
